Philip Blight
I am an experienced facilitator, trainer and coach with 10 years experience of strategic development in leadership training and government policy. I am a creative and innovative leader, committed to my values and my community, with extensive and transferable skills, knowledge and expertise.
I am a qualified teacher, has 8 years experience of policy and strategy development working directly to Welsh Assembly Ministers. I lived and worked in Greece for a number of years where I taught English Language and Literature. I have experience of working with a number of voluntary organisations, delivering leadership support, coaching and mentoring. I also chair a community council through which I am exploring the potential of devolved service and community empowerment with the local authority area.
Working for Public Service Management Wales, I built and delivered training programmes in Organisational development, leadership development, and coaching skills and strategy development for public services across Wales. My programme, Practice for Change, co-designed and delivered with David, created an OD network of over 50 practitioners who are available to support public service organisations in Wales. I facilitated workshops on Appreciative Inquiry to over 80 public servants, coaching skills as part of ILM accredited training, and was a facilitator at Public Service Summer School 2010.
I deliver workshops in leadership awareness training to social entrepreneurs, support leadership development for a number of voluntary sector organisations and I am currently developing a creative lab to support cross-sectoral social enterprise development in Wales. For the remainder of my waking time I am an artist, writer and musician, a husband and a father.
My motivation for starting my company, FUTUREWALES, is my absolute belief that there is in Wales an incredible untapped resource, the creativity that exists within the citizens of Wales. During his career Philip has worked in the public, private and voluntary sectors; much of this has been in the field of the arts and Philip is committed to helping people discover and exploit their full creative potential as leaders whose focus is discovery and value-driven performance, who are committed to facilitating effective change within their organisations to meet emerging opportunities and challenges.
My favourite quote? Anything by Frank Zappa – such as:
or perhaps less appropriately:
“If we can't be free at least we can be cheap”.
